Entrapment of the Human Existence

This painting was inspired by Plato’s theory of ‘the Myth of the Cave’ which demonstrated the state of the human condition and especially the human knowledge of the real truth. What was amazing was that this state of condition has not progressed very much since then.

This state of human existence is illustrated by the ‘no way out’ direction of staircases. The interior was painted dreadfully in a devastated condition which shows the ‘veiled’ world we exist in. There is a painting on the wall shown as a real world we are in which seem so surreal at times. Some parts of the railings were missing but the shadow has indeed shown its past presence. The red door depicts the hidden ‘treasures’ which could be here today and gone tomorrow. The window on the left is the real source of light from a real ‘world’ that offers to shine into this dying world.
