NUM 24:9

‘He bows down, he lies down as a lion; And as a lion, who shall rouse him?’

This painting showcases the nation of Israel being raised up by the Hand of God. Close scrutiny of the details of His Hand reveals a vast assembly of people worshipping God.  In one accord of worship to their Creator, they ultimately ascend into the spiritual realm unifying with His Spirit. As they are lifted up by this gigantic spiritual wave, they are carried to greater heights, into His Victorious Glory.

The significance of the painting largely rests on the way we view the golden Lion who is majestic in appearance and has the aptitude of strength and courage. The animal encapsulates God’s spirit of Courage going before His people as a Shield.  One cannot help but be captivated by the Lion’s eyes which are gentle and compassionate. Nothing escapes His sight. This raises the pensive question, ‘Who dares to rouse Him?’

As the lion is painted with gold which signifies God’s glory, it shines brightest when viewed under dim light.

Notwithstanding, the focus of the audience may lie on the exquisite display of the ‘Star of David’ resting on the lion like a prayer shawl. The rainbow colours depicted represents the covenant made by God, where He has chosen King David to be over His people Israel and His descendants. Peace will be within the walls of Jerusalem and prosperity within her palaces.

The message Eve bears in this piece of work serves as a reminder that God’s loving kindness and faithfulness is everlasting.
