This unique piece allows Eve to strongly exhibit her signature leaves in the “FACES OF CHRIST” series. Unlike other paintings under this series, here it combines both the lion and the eagle, two most powerful species in their respective kingdoms, as well as the leaves. All three fight fiercely for the attention of the viewer and yet there remains a harmony despite all existence of all three subjects.
Notwithstanding, the focus of the audience is narrowed down to the leaves with the brilliant use of colours by Eve, limiting to hues of blues and green. Jesus is hereby personified by the clever display of the leaves, the largest which clearly symbolizes the lips of Christ. An attempt to take a closer look at it unfolds the dew which speaks of freshness imbibed in the word of God. The formation of the leaves allows us to locate the face of Christ – his eyebrows, nose and mouth.
The message Eve bears in this piece of work serves as an exhortation for us to walk in Christ, with the eyes of the eagle to see what He sees and the boldness of a lion to release them in the form of spoken words.
